The article is devoted to clarifying certain aspects of property restitution in the context of the return of property to the owner with restoration of the rights to it, deprived due to various reasons — nationalization, confiscation, forfeit and others, including those occurred at the time of the events that took place in Ukraine in the twentieth century — revolutions, wars, armed conflicts and more. It is the matter of the restitution of a) property lost during the Holocaust; b) church property; c) property of individuals forfeited at the time of nationalization, collectivization and other processes; d) cultural property which owners were deprived of during the military actions; e) property belonging to illegally sentenced persons and in some other cases. The experience of other countries regarding processing of legal mechanisms of property restitution is provided. |
