Annotation The article studies legal provisions for assessment of projects of industrial and other business facilities affecting the environment (FAE). It is emphasized that as an object of legal regulation FAE is subject to numerous legal acts of different levels, including the key role of regulations. The legal requirements for the materials to be studied in the FAE procedure, and the main stages of the assessment of the above procedure are researched. The author states that the regulations governing appropriate social relations have not been systematized and coordinated. They compete and lead to conflicts of law. The proposals for eliminating drawbacks in the relevant legislative regulation are made. In particular, the need in improving legal regulation of environmental impact assessment in order to provide its key role in the evaluation of environmentally dangerous activities is emphasized. The need in development and adoption of a comprehensive law on the assessment of environmental impacts is proved.
