Annotation The state and prospects for improvement of legislation on public participation in the assessment of environmentally dangerous economic activities projects are analyzed in the article. Attention is paid to the compatibility of national environmental legislation with the Convention on Access to Information, Public Participation in Decision-Making and Access to Justice in Environmental Matters (Aarhus, June 1998). The need in more systematic, detailed laws (codes) regulating ecological relations with the requirements on participation in the environmental assessment of the planned industrial and other economic activities is substantiated. Forms of public environmental assessment (public ecological expertise, public hearings on projects of environmentally dangerous facilities, and other advisory referenda on projects of building economic facilities, etc.) are studied. The issues of legal framework thereof are analyzed. The proposals to eliminate discrepancies between legal acts in the sphere of social relations and recommendations for relevant legislation systematization are made.
