Annotation This article analyzes the status of the president for the republican form of government. The general status characteristics of the president that do not depend on the form of government are determined. The peculiarities of the relationship between the president and the executive and the legislative branches of power in certain forms of government are specified. The presidential powers in the presidential, parliamentary and semi-presidentia republics are characterized. The interdependent forms of the government and the president in the terms of law enforcement are grounded. Suggestions on appropriateness of semi-presidential form of government for Ukraine are formed.
