Annotation This article is dedicated to the analysis of the scientific achievements in the study of the problems of elections, suffrage and voting systems in the national and foreign constitutional science. Priorities in the scientific researches of the electoral legal relationships, appropriate law-making activity and application of law are determined on the basis of the generalization of traditional and new suffrage concepts. Common methodological approaches to the definition of the election are systematized. The classification of the main types of elections is fulfilled. Suffrage in its objective and subjective meaning is analyzed. Legal description of the categories «elections», «suffrage», «voting system» and others is provided. New approaches to improve the current election law of Ukraine are substantiated, in particular regarding its codification.
