Annotation

The article presents the main shifts introduced in the new Regulation №1215/2012 affecting jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments within the framework of the European Union. The EU law is constantly changing and renewing so it’s crucial to know the recent legislative amendments into the EU law. The article envisages causes and prerequisites of the reform of the jurisdiction and recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments in the EU. The article is elaborated as a comparison of the rules of both EU Regulations. There are following matters, highlighted in the present article: issues of extension of the scope of Regulation № 1215/2012, matters of jurisdiction in labour and consumer disputes, jurisdiction while parties enter into the exclusive choice of court agreement. The greater attention is paid to the reform of the procedure of enforcement of foreign judgments — the abolition of exequatur. The lattes shall foster more enhanced EU integration, both in legal and economic spheres.
