Annotation The article deals with the burdensome way of the development of the EU law on the concentration control. It may be divided into five main stages — from the times of the Treaty Establishing the European Community on Coal and Steel in 1951 and up to the law reform in 2004 and adoption of Regulation 139/2004 on the concentration control. The EU member states faced difficulties in delegating part of their sovereign powers in the sphere of the concentration control to the European Commission. Experience and remarks of all member states had to be taken into account. The EU system of concentration control may be regarded as the outcome of the EU member states compromise.
