Annotation The application of international humanitarian law norms in the sphere of medical workers’ activity during military operations in different historical periods is analyzed. Numerous international legal acts regulating the issues of medical practice are investigated in historical aspect from Ancient times to the implementation and development of international humanitarian law in the Armed Forces of independent Ukraine. Specific attention is paid to the application of Geneva Convention for the Amelioration of the Condition of the Wounded and Sick in Armed Forces in the Field. Four stages in the development and functioning of international humanitarian law are singled out and characterized.
