Annotation | Following the novel of M. Bulgakov «The White Guard» the author shows symbolism of the city in the legal sphere. The key aspects of this novel which concern the legal description of the city are analyzed. One of the most important points of such legal description is the legal consciousness of city-dwellers, which appears in legal situations. The indissoluble connection between a city and a periphery comes to light through the impossibility to build legal image of the city without taking into account the peculiarities of the legal culture of the peasants. The one more aspect is a danger for the effective functioning of the law of non-interference, and that was repeatedly demonstrated by Bulgakov in the novel. The parts of the novel, which illustrate the importance of the law for the normal functioning of the city as a native embodiment of peace and life orderliness, are reviewed. |
