The Questions of Professional and Psychological Selection of Candidates for Judges in Ukraine and the Ways of Using International Experience article studies the problems of formation of judicial corps in Ukraine, and provides analysis of Ukrainian law currently in force that regulates the judge appointment procedure. An overview of international experience in the selection procedure and qualification requirements to candidates for judges was provided. Existing problems with the absence of legislative requirements that would clearly determine medical restrictions on the profession of judge and provide for mandatory checks of a candidate’s psycho-emotional state, and the absence of mechanism for evaluation of moral qualities of candidates for judges were highlighted. The author proposes the changes to and improvement of the procedure of formation of judicial corps in Ukraine via legislative regulation of existing legal norms and incorporation of international practices.
