The article discusses the expediency of introducing the General Law Academic Competence Test (GLACT) into the admission testing for master’s degree programs in Law as a means for enhancing the selection’s effectiveness and fairness. The authors argue that the necessity of introducing GLACT is motivated by a modern education’s paradigm on developing personal and professional competencies as well as the need for introducing a multifactor approach into the process of selecting candidates for master's degree programs in Law. The article describes the essence of the General Law Academic Competence as a methodological base for the GLACT framework. The authors suggest implementing the General Academic Competence Test (GACT) into the process of testing applicants for bachelor's degree programs in Law. The authors argue that this will promote harmonization of the selection systems at different levels of legal education as well as serve as a focal point for promoting a competence-based legal education in Ukraine.
