The article deals with the content and methodological features of the reformed teaching of the theory of law and the state at the Faculty of Law of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. The first of these is that this subject, from the 1991/1992 academic year, speaks out of the position of the most fundamental human rights. Consequently, the positive law established by the state is interpreted as a means, a means of ensuring and protecting such rights. The second feature is that the study of all the themes of the subject is accompanied by the execution of practical tasks by students, constructed on materials of real legal activity.
