The article examines the issues of abidance with the principles of morality in the process of determining the personality criteria, which are necessary to work in the position of a judge. Firstly, the guarantee of the existence of an effective and efficient judicial power is its subject composition. The author has highlighted and analyzed the existing problem of pressure on judges in the implementation of justice. It is indicated that the abidance with the principles of morality in the process of determining the criteria for the personality necessary to work as a judge. Attention is paid to the issues of moral and psychological criteria for the position of a judge, the ability of a person to perform the function of a judge, checking the personal moral and psychological qualities of candidates for a judge.
