In the article the doctrinal points of view to understanding the concept of «measures to ensure criminal proceedings» are analyzed. The features are distinguished, and the concept of criminal-procedural compulsion is formulated. The models of compulsion in criminal proceedings are considered. An attention is paid to the procedural nature of measures to ensure criminal proceedings. The complex character of this institute of criminal procedural law is substantiated.
