Annotation | The article is focused on theoretical and practical aspects defining information obligations in the system of relations under civil law, as well as on the characterization of their types and specific features, outlining of the specific nature of contracts on the basisof which information relations arise, change and terminate. The purpose of the article is to analyze (from the standpoint of legal doctrine) the signs of information obligations, define the concept of regulation of information relations under civil law, as well as the trends and prospects of legal regulation of information obligations in the legislation of Ukraine. The articles provides an interpretation of such a category as “information obligation” as a civil-law relationship in which one party (the creditor) is entitled to demand that the other party (the debtor) grant or transfer proprietary rights to information or refrain from taking actions associated with the granting or transferring of such rights to other persons, and the debtor is under the obligation to comply with the creditor’s requirements. The author has arrived at the conclusion that information obligations have a contractual l nature, they arise, change and terminate based on a contract. Information as an outcome of human intellectual activity can exist as an independent object, as well as in the form of results of creative efforts which are protected by the system of intellectual property law. The concept of information as an outcome of intellectual activity allows evaluating, through the prism of informational relations, the system of intellectual property and, at the same time, it provides an opportunity to apply certain provisions of intellectual property law to information relations of a private-law nature while a respective regulatory system in the national legislation is only being formed.
