Annotation | An important component of the state’s competition policy is the use of both coercive measures by the state and the means of advocacy, which in most cases are considered to be softer and more additional than state coercion. Competition advocacy must take its rightful place in the development of civil society and, accordingly, acquire effective tools for use by both public authorities and businesses. The purpose of the article is to determine the role of competition advocacy as a tool of public policy and self-regulation of economic activity. It is established that the state policy of effective competition advocacy should be based on a combination of instruments of state regulation with the development of self-regulatory institutions, which ultimately leads to co-regulation. Interaction in advocacy of competition of state instruments and self-regulation is a modern direction of transformation of public relations. A positive feature of self-regulation is the awareness of business entities of the importance and expediency of competition and the implementation of competition advocacy policy at the local level. It is proved that an important tool of competition advocacy is the development of antitrust compliance policy, which is defined in the internal documents of business entities, self-regulatory organizations.
