Annotation | Constitutional experience of foreign countries (the republics of the former USSR, which became independent states) in solving the issue regarding multiple citizenship is summarized. The law on Ukrainian citizenship and its changes in the independence years are analyzed. The bill “on amendments to the law on Ukrainian citizenship on the grounds and the procedure of acquiring and suspension of citizenship of Ukraine”, submitted by the president of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, registered at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine under no. 6368 on December 2, 2021 to introduce dual citizenship in Ukraine, has been analyzed. The reasons for the implementation of dual citizenship in Ukraine are investigated as well as its possible negative consequences are predicted. The implementation of dual citizenship in Ukraine has been considered inadvisable.
