The relationship between human rights and the environment in international law is becoming increasingly important as the world realizes the full scale and complexity of environmental problems such as climate change.

The consequences of climate change and environmental degradation have a direct or indirect impact on a number of fundamental rights guaranteed at international and European levels, such as the right to life and the right to health. Many countries now include the right to a healthy environment in their constitutions. However, many issues about the realization of human rights to a healthy environment as a component of the right to the health of an individual require further research. The importance of the above-mentioned rights is particularly relevant in the context of the resolution of armed conflicts, ruthless use of natural resources, and ignoring the requirements for ensuring environmental safety.

The purpose of the article is the analysis of environmental rights as a component of the right to health of an individual in the European Union (the EU) and the determination of directions for improving the legislation of Ukraine. In accordance with the set goal, the tasks are: analysis of international acts in the field of environmental policy, analysis of regulatory and legal support of EU environmental policy; proposals to improve domestic legislation in this area. The article examines the legal provision of the right to a healthy environment as a component of the right to personal health. This study examines the practice of using existing human rights laws for a healthy environment in the EU and Ukraine, as well as mechanisms for eliminating environmental damage. In addition, proposals for improving domestic legislation are being considered.
