The article considers the reasons for the adoption of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR in 1927, calculations are made of the number of characters included in the part __ chapter, article. It is established that the volume of the «General part» is 26 %, «Special part» — 74 % of the total volume of material, the priority is Chapter II «Crimes against the management order», in which the greatest number of signs is concentrated. It is proved that there is a tendency to intensify cruel punishment, since the number of articles that provided for the maximum penalty was 43 or 17,1 % of their total number. The imperfection of the legal technique of the Criminal Code of the Ukrainian SSR in 1927 is proved because of the lack of systematic presentation of the material, the lack of a single numbering and vagueness in the wording of certain articles and sanctions.
