The article deals with the issue on dividing ways of subjective civil rights protection into general and special. The research uncovered that this classification is used actively in court practice but it has not experienced the respective general scientific analysis yet and this is a ground for theoretical and practical problems to exist. Supported by the studying of the doctrine and court practice, the general criterion to divide all ways of subjective civil rights protection into general and special as well as exact rules according to which it is reasonable to stipulate legal consequences of both general and special ways of protection was offered.
