Annotation The article examines the interconnection between the duration of continuing crimes and degree of social danger of these crimes. The author considers that the duration renders different effects on the social danger of continuing crimes. This is explained by features of some particular action or another stipulated by criminal responsibility law. Those features of a crime, which greatly affect the degree of social danger of this crime, significantly reduce the value of the duration. Some continuing crimes do not have such «distinguishing» features. Features that are not a part of the constitution of a crime are important for such continuing crimes. These features have some value for the crimes of first group. Therefore, the degree of social danger of continuing crimes which are equal in the duration may be different.
Keywords continuing crimes, degree of social danger, illegal confinement, retention a person as a hostage, unauthorized abandonment of a military unit or place of service, desertion.
