Annotation

This 2016th year marks the 240th anniversary of the adoption of the world-wideknown historical document — the United States Declaration of Independence — by the AmericanCongress. This legal act summed up the first most difficult period of the American Revolution, the struggle for independence from the English metropolis. The Declaration started the historyof American constitutionalism, legislated the foundations of democracy: the sovereignty andsupremacy of the people, the right to resistance to violence, i. e. to revolution, the right to selectthe appropriate form of government that will respond to and protect their interests. The Declaration consolidated natural and undeniable rights of people, inherited from their birth:the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. The Declaration of independence becamea kind of appeal, signal, and call to action for all the oppressed peoples of the world: fight foryour freedom, do not sit idly, complaining about your fate, but be persistent, determined, andyou will win.
