Annotation The article studies the role of representative democracy institutions as a factor in determining the genesis of state form in modern conditions. The author analyzes the main theoretical and methodological approaches in the theory of state and law to the interpretation of representative democracy and its institutions in the context of the functioning of a democratic form of government. Particular attention is paid to the study of organization and functioning of representative bodies for the development of government forms and the political regime. The value of representative institutions in the development of interaction system of a democratic state and civil society is defined.
