The article analyzes the content and peculiarities of the legal assessment in the field of environmental protection. In particular, questions of purpose legal assessment in this area, the requirements of documentation, the differences between the official (legal) and informal qualifications qualified individual behavior in terms of its compliance with environmental legislation. Given that the purpose of legal assessment in this area is to determine the legality of the environmental behavior of the person in the article special emphasis on analysis skills (evaluation) of environmental violations (of the object and the objective side, subject and subjective side). In this article, considerable attention is also paid to the analysis of legislation (Law of Ukraine «On Environmental Protection», the main natural resource laws (codes) and other special laws), which determines the composition of environmental violations which form the legal basis for establishing the environmental legality or illegality of the behavior of individuals. It also improving expediency of certain laws on the subject clearer definition in their warehouses environmental offenses.
