The article investigates the issues of standards of conduct, professional activity of judges. A legislative setting of requirements and criteria, which permit to give a professional assessment of the capacity of judges to perform their professional duties efficiently, taking into account their professional and personal skills that lead to higher confidence in the judicial corps, are given by the author. The issues of guarantying judicial independence, that must be provided through legal protection, material and social security of judges, are analyzed in this article.
