Annotation Thу article explores peculiarities of judicial proceedings on the class action in Italy. By analyzing traditional forms of class actions and the rules of recent introduction of this mechanism, the author draws attention to the fact that in Italy the right to be a class plaintiff is given to users/consumers and their associations only. The cases when Italian class actions can be used to protect the rights and interest are studied. The features of Italian class actions compared to the traditional U. S. common law model (as adjusted at the end of the 20th century) are studied. It also studies differences between collective type of action and a group one.
