Annotation The article draws the attention of the scientific community and society to the problem of drug addiction and drug-related crime in Ukraine, which over the last decade has become one of the most crucial social problems. The attention is focused on the fact that one of the causes of low efficiency of state coercion in the area should be considered an inefficient application of administrative and coercive measures of preventive nature and administrative penalties. Thus the article deeply analyzes the main administrative and enforcement measures in combating drug trafficking in Ukraine for their further use in contemporary reform processes. The authors emphasize that the problem of illicit trafficking in drugs and psychotropic substances, the constant growth of drug addicts will not cease to exist as its resolving is a real (rather than «paper») strategic task of the state, the implementation of which shall be carried out by criminal repressive tools as well as within the system and systematic application of preventive and other administrative and coercive measures which are currently being practically implemented.
