Annotation | The ICC International Court of Arbitration is one of the world’s most known arbitration institutions. The present article develops on the history of establishment of the Court and provides a detailed overview of its structure, including that of the Secretariat. The article sets forth the Court’s statistics, in particular reflecting the increase in cases involving the parties coming from Central and Eastern Europe and CIS. It then proceeds with the history and description of the ICC Rules of Arbitration, as well as their impact on the rules of other arbitration institutions. In conclusion, it looks at the impact the Court had on the development of international commercial arbitration, including the Court’s involvement in the drafting of the New York Convention, its cooperation with international organizations and role in popularization of international commercial arbitration throughout the globe. |
