Article Modern Theory of Democracy: Question of the Genesis and Research in the Legal Tradition

Annotation The article is dedicated to the problem of democracy as a form of organization and functioning of the government on the basis of determination of the people as its source and the repository of sovereignty in resolving the problems of public administration. Particular attention is paid to the development of the general theory of democracy in the modern legal science, and characteristics of basic democratic theories: direct, representative, participative, liberal, social, consocia- tional, competitive, their strengths and vulnerabilities of the modern period. In the context of the development of democratic institutions and the improvement of their functioning special place is given to the implementation and protection of political rights and freedoms, in particular the election and the formation of public authorities, local governments and others.
