Annotation | The article examines current approaches to understanding the content of the concept of democracy and democratic governance. The author proves the importance of developing the mechanisms of interaction between the state and civil society, as a condition of democracy's genesis and determining the level of the state's democratization in general. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of the content of basic principles and values of democracy. The idea of close correlation between the assertion of democracy and the emergence of the state of law and social state is argued. It is shown that the analysis of the values, principles, state-and-legal mechanisms of democracy should provide answers to two key questions regarding the content of these values, principles, state-and-legal mechanisms, as well as the specifics of correlation between them. It is proved that the meaning of the idea of the democratic government is to ensure the right to all citizens on its implementation. It means that the citizens must be able to influence democratic government and its actions as long as its major goal is to preserve the integrity of the community and resolve social conflicts. It is argued that a democratic state, state of law and social state form a unity, and their principles are closely linked. The role of the mechanisms of direct democracy, parliamentarism, protection of human rights and freedoms, local government in the democratic development of the Ukrainian state and society is characterized. |
