The author of article carries out attempt to prove an indispensability of renaming of the armed body of the government of-militia on police. Starding the historic facts in article stages of occurrence and development of the Ukrainian militia are shown, the arguments causing and an objective indispensability renaming of the Ukrainian militia on police are resulted.
