The author addresses the problem of determining the category of «cultural property». In the article the components and characteristics of this term are analyzing. Moreover, the comparative analysis with similar and close categories, which are used in the science and practice, is held. Much attention is drawn to the use of the term in different lingual versions of the 1954 Hague Convention. The author comes to the conclusion about the necessity to achieve consensus on the understanding of the definition of «cultural property».
