The article analyses the basic methodological approaches in the Ukrainian legal science to the interpretation of rule of law phenomenon. According to the so-called «split-elementary» approach it can be understood via a split interpretation of law and rule phenomena. According to the «integrative» approach this phenomenon is interpreted by pointing on those «important elements» («principles», «ingredients», «aspects») of which it consists. The dialectical relation between these research approaches is proved.
