Annotation The article author describes the existing concepts being developed in Ukraine in the sphere of information relations and analyzes the two primary ones. She sets out the arguments and proves the relevance and value of the development of the theory of information rights as an institution of civil law to the development of the national science. She also examines the main provisions and the conceptual framework of the theory of information law as a branch of law, which is being concurrently developed in Ukraine for a prolonged period of time. By coherently exploring the arguments set forth in the dissertation papers of the civil law scientists and own researches, the author arrives to a conclusion that the application of the theory of the information rights as an institution of civil law is the most promising for the purposes of legislation and practical application of the law.
